Our Veterans
The challenges faced by veterans of colour, did not only come about through their war efforts. It started at the point of signing up, many as volunteers, to support Britain in WW1 and WW2.
Promotion to the rank of Officer was seldom offered to Black and Indigenous soldiers, and if it were, it would be as a result of having to deny they were of African descent. Being recognised for their sacrifice, skills and achievements following the ravages of war, proved to be thankless, unrewarding, and for many, unrecognised.
